Sako Finnlight?
I posted this question in another section but only had one response. Maybe I'll hve more here. I was thinking of buying a Sako Finnlight in 7-08. It'll cost around $1000. Now my question, I already have a Remington classic in 7x57 and a bunch of other calibers, what's your opinions of the rifle, and am I just repeating what I already have in the caliber? Someone suggested a Kimber Montana instead. I'm not a fan of the three postition safety though. I guess I wonder if the shorter barreled Sako will lose velocity so that the 7x57, 260, 270 and all the others will be able to duplicate or even be superior?

I handled a sako finnlight the other day, and boy it felt good. I've never been a sako fan just because their rifles are too heavy for me, but the finnlight is perfectly balanced. I didn't like the alloy triggerguard though.

The kimber 84m montana looks really nice too. Its lighter, but it has a blind magazine. What were they thinking? At 5lbs 2oz they easily could have added a floorplate.

As for velocity loss, in a 7mm-08 you'll probably lose 50 fps with 2" less barrel length. Not that much. The 7mm-08 won't do anything your 7x57 won't do. These cartidges are 2 peas in a pod. But its always nice to have a new rifle. [Smile]
