Sako FN Mauser in 375
Anyone know anything about these? It's on an FN 98 Mauser. The bottom of the bolt handle has a flat checkered space. The 26" lightweight barrel is stamped "375 Magnum." It's stocked for iron sights in decent-looking walnut. The rear sight has one standing and one folding leaf. The front sight is on ramp, but not banded. High-gloss blue finish on all metal, low scope-type safety, push-button bottom metal.

thanks,

Okie John

Sako didn't introduce their "long" (L61R) action until the early sixties. For a few years prior to that they built rifles chambered for full-length cartridges on an FN Mauser action. Like all Sakos, they were excellent guns.

.300 H & H seems to have been one of the most common chamberings, but when you run across one it has frequently (and tragically) been rechambered to .300 Wby. This is a little ironic in that the Sako FN Mauser is almost identical to the Southgate Weatherby, which was also built on an FN Mauser action.

If you find another Sako with the FN98 action please let me know! I´d really like one in .300H&H.

And both are far better rifles than the push feed rifles they make today. clap
