Who can give recommendations in relation to a rifle Weatherby Vanguard Synthetic in the caliber of .338WM?

Not sure what you want to know. The vanguard is a Howa 1500 barrel & action. They are a good quality pushfeed action. From what I've heard normally good accuray. I've owned and loaded for several Howa's over the years. Never had trouble getting MOA. I happen to prefer the Hoque stock on the Howa over the Vanguard design but that is simply my preference. For the $$ hard to go wrong.

I purchased the same rifle for my son a couple of years ago and it quickly became his favorite weapon.

We have found it to be very accurate, and very tolerant of a variety of bullet and powder combinations.

I think it is a lot of bang for the buck...no pun intended.

Get one...you will like it.

I will second that the Howa 1500/Weatherby Vanguard is a very nice and accurate rifle, especially considering the price. I have the Howa 1500 in 30-06 and have been hunting with it for almost 7 years now as my go-to gun.

I think you'll be quite pleased with the Vanguard if you choose to purchase one.

Someone gave me 2 boxes very old ammo to try (said it to be 10-40years old). Took them to the range and what a surprise. For back ground - this was my first outing with my new .338wm Weatherby Vanguard, did not know what to expect as far as recoil or accuracy is concerned. After sighting the scope, took 3 shots at 100m - measured 24mm (0.94") then Since the area where I've booked a hunt was very dense, I tried them at 75m(82y), 3 shots in 8.8mm (0.34"). Fired both boxes and went back and bought the other 3 boxes he had left, for my trip. Shot a Impala ram at 171m. one shot kill.Bullet entered front of left shoulder and broke and exited the oposite shoulder. Very little meat damage and perfect performance for old ammo.

Since then, I have taken a kudu bull and gemsbok, one shot kills. In fact neither of them moved from where they stood.

Now I load 250gr Woodleighs @ 2700ft/s. 0.83" groups, Perfect rifle, would like a little smoother trigger though. For the price nothing better out there!!! Get it you will not be sorry for a minute!!!

Personally, I'd try to find a Howa 1500 in whatever caliber you want vs a Vanguard. I have been seeing WV prices go up a bit, granted they're the same gun with slightly different appearances, you're gonna pay a % for "Weatherby" to be stamped on the barrel. Of course, if you're looking for a Wby Mag caliber, then a Vanguard is a better option then a MkV price wise. Of course even this starts getting close with the Sub-Moa models. Saw one the other day for over 900$....200$ more at the same LGS gets you a choice of a few used MkV's in the same calibers.

Timney makes a very good trigger for these.
