tu2 +1 on that

I should take delivery on a model 48 Custom Sporter in 325 WSM tomorrow.
The legacy sure looks nice. I may have to look in to that also.

pretty rifle tu2 One has to take some pride in ownership with that one.

That said I can get almost three M-70 new for the same price....and they're not at all dogcrap!

As to the .280 AI.....That's a fine move by Nosler to establish it as a SAAMI recognized standard and offer modern pressure loads for it. They also are the sole MFR of ammo for it as well.....another good move by Nosler.

All in all I must say that Nosler has their stuff together....great products seem to be their middle name!

Pretty but I wouldn’t own one. I want a rifle that if it falls out of the truck down a steep bank of rocks, I wouldn’t contemplate suicide over the accident.

LOL, not me but my wife as far as dumping my rifle (not hers) down an embankment. Been there, watched that.
It was just a No. 1 with a Burris scope. They both survived but dinging up.

Mick,
Nice thing about an oil vs. polyurethene finish.

Rifles are meant to be hunted, blue steel and wood rifles have a "soul". All of mine have character marks, and not from moving around in a safe, but being hunted, and many times, hunted hard.......

I could go on, but, perhaps you get the point.

There is “no” rifle or handgun in my safe that isn’t dented or scared in one fashion or another (except the new one I got for Christmas). I really use them. Hunting rifles don’t need to be that pretty or expensive. IMO Wink

Perhaps I misunderstand your meaning. Why would you buy a blue steel and wood rifle whether it cost $1.00 or $10,000 and not use it for it's intended purpose?
Hunting rifles do not have to be expensive, but I've found that you are very seldom disappointed by buying quality, or going first class.

Geedubya, I wouldn’t spend my limited money on a hunting rifle that costs more than 800 dollars. If I was given a hunting rifle like the one that started this thread, I would sell it and buy something that was practical.

I totally understand.
Also, if If I offended you with my posts, I publicly apologize. That was not my intent. Sometimes I get carried away.

I drive a 14 year old truck and wear a $30 watch. I tell folks that I can buy a rifle every month for what my payment for a new truck and insurance.

I am a rifle looney and gunwhore.
Methheads and crack addicts have and addiction. I do likewise. Mine is rifles. Luckily, I have bought most of mine at a price that I am not upside down, should I need to turn them into cash.

I like their rifles a good bit. May try one someday, but for the life of me, I don't know whay more mfgs of these custom actions don't go with integral scope mounts like Surgeon or even the TC Icon rifles...I would buy a McMillan action based rifle in a heartbeat if they had integral bases.......
