338 Win Mag and Barnes 210TSX
I am trying to work up a load using either RL19 or IMR4350 as I have lots of both. Any suggestions? Thanks

I haven't experimented with the 210gr version, but I did work up an exceedingly accurate load with the 225's and IMR 4350. .7 MOA is the norm out of my Sako 75 Hunter.

i dont shoot barns due to there make up can cause more pressure. i shoot 73.0 grains of imr 4350 with a 210 partition and get great accuracy.
either powder i think you will get great performance out of

ive not shot any barnes tsx peroid in my 338 win-magnum.i cross referenced my barnes #3 manual,in it they don't list any tsx bullets because they were made after this manual was printed. sooooo i'd advise useing their xlc data with their 210 grain xlc bt.
with imr4350 they start at 71.5 for 2806 mv and max at76.5 for3002..mv for rl-19....75.0 start for 2792 mv and 80.0 grains max for 2978 ..mv. cases used were winchester, primer federal gm 215m,barrel was 24 inch,......caution...... double check my data given as any manual can have printed mis-takes,also check barnes web page for reloading up dates and info..... one last tip ive never had any so called reloading problems with any barnes bullets peroid that includes the xbullet xlc's and the new tsx's in various calibers, just rember to jump them .50 thousands to your lands, congrats on your powder choices dancing regards

If you use the xlc data be sure you start at the min. load and work up carefully. Being short on time (and momentarily stupid) and not wanting to "waste" those pricey bullets on load developement I started a little higher assuming the xlc data was interchangeable with the tsx. I know that in my rifle 74 gr of IMR 4350 will make the bolt handle difficult to lift and that 74 gr of H4350 will make the primer fall right out of the pocket. Eeker These were not even maximum loads as listed in the xlc data. Learned an old lesson all over again. Start low and work up.

Good Advice from all. Many thanks. I am going with 73 grains of RL19 to start and bullet seated 0.020 off of lands.

.020 might be a bit close, start there and work deeper.

Hey bwest

I've tried a few 210 TSX's. Here was a good load

Also 73 gr IMR4350 worked pretty good.

RL19 was a little slow for the 210 gr and works best with the 225 gr bullet.

If you check with Barnes, they will highly advise you to seat the bullet .050 off the lands. Seemed far to me too, but I did as told and what'ya know, accuracy with the 225gr and 71gr H4350 was MOA.

I am told that the recommendation for .050 is due to the potential for pressure spikes with this bullet.

Check the Barnes website they have load data for 388 WM for all the TSX bullets including a most accurate. They also have 338-06 and 338 federal data

I like 4831 sc with the 338 and 200 gr x and the 210 tsx I use 74.1 with the x and it works

Here is the Barnes reloading data for the three calibers mentioned above. However, they only list two powders for the .338WM.

I've loaded a lot of the .338's with the 210TSX. 74-75 grains of RL19 should hit right at 2900 fps or so and in mine shoots a lot of 3/4 to 1 in groups at 200 yards. I'm getting ready for a caribou/moose hunt in Ak and that is my load.

Barnes has published some loading guidelines for the TSX TSX loading guidelines

Barnes does not recommend the XLC data.

I followed the .050 rule, until my 300 win mag wouldn't cooperate. I moved them closer an voila. John Barsness of Rifle/Handloader recommends treating the TSX like a regular bullet and starting .030 and adjusting form there.

DO NOT USE XLC DATA WITH THE TSX!!!!

This is a really good way to get a face full of bolt shroud!

XLC data is WAY OVER PRESSURE for the TSX use your brains guys. Holy CRAP!

If you don't believe me, call Barnes and see what they have to say about it.
