shrps74Cast Bullets in 9.3X62?
I've got a CZ550 American in 9.3x62. Wonderful rifle and caliber (will be taking it elk hunting next year). Was wondering if anyone makes a good 250-270grain cast bullet (.366/67 diameter). I cast myself but if there are good commercially avialable, I'd gladly not breath the lead. BobG in VA

kududeI don't know that you could buy a cast bullet for as little as the Speer 270gr, 50 for $14, or Privi Partisan 286's @ $20/100. They are pretty reasonable and I would think that they'd do pretty much anything a cast bullet would. Kudude

shrps74Kudude, I've already got a bunch of both of those bullets. I'm just looking for "plinking" 100 yd loads with SR4759. I shot some 270s, and a few 232 Norma Oryxs today at 225yds. Both do well in my rifle. Just looking for a little different type of shooting. As a matter of fact, I'd think that a 250gr cast bullet would make an excellent Whitetail deer load at about 1800 to 2000fps (pretty much what a 250 gr 28-55 would do. BobG in VA

shrps74Opps, should have read "38-55" vice 28-55. BobG in VA

Dr. DucWhy bother. The Privi Partisan is only about 2250 anyway. It's excellent for deer.

NevadanI use the Privi Partisan 286gr from Grafs and push it with 32gr of SR4759 at about 1860 fps. This makes a great plinking/practice round. Push it a bit faster and you have your Whitetail round, still using 4759.

z1rSince everyone else is too fucking busy telling you what a stoopid idea it is to use cast, here ya go:
http://bullshop.gunloads.com/prices.htmlHe can size correctly for the 9.3. I spoke with him at length about some cast bullets for my 9.3x57 which by the way loves the Prvi partizan 285's. But it turns Out I have a buddy that will cast some for me instead. Anyway, I agree it would be a hell of a lot of fun shooting cast. For me there is the added bonus of being able to shoot in the local cast bullet silhouette matches.
