Heritage ArmsI would not be suprised if the 9,3 came into the picture for Remington, they sometimes build 700's in 7x64 and ammunition.

Mr BillHere's another vote in favor of the .284 Win. Can't justify why it would work but, I would purchase at least one to add to my collection of factory chambered .284's. I'd like a second for a shooter. If it were made in SS...
Other possibility might be either .308 or .358 Win.
I was over on Rem's web sight reviewing which chamberings have already been produced and then skipped over to the 700 SS DM page and discovered they've discontinued chambering them in 7-08.
I think that model chambered in .284 Win would be a great match. I like/prefer detachable box magazines and the .284 Win. round.

Easy to tool up for.
Popular as any of the short Weatherbys. They aready did the 7mm Weatherby.
Might steal a bit of market from Winchesters 270 WSM.
I might buy one.

Why? Cause it says Remington on the end already! I know it would thump deer nicely. No plastic tipped bullets need apply!
I think they are starting to run out of calibers, checking their list, and CotW 8th edition, Something along their medium power cartridges, or maybe their 6.8SPC are some of the only options. The .308 and .284 Winchester haven't been used, but then again, I know they have a few dusty 6.5 Rem Mag reamers lying around...

While I agree that J-locks are as useless as tits on a boar, and I hate them, they can be changed out. I am not going to stop buying Remingtons because of it.

I think the 284 Win would get my wallet motivated. A 7x57 or a 358 Win would be interesting also. I would probably bite on a 6.5x55 as well.

I hope the Remy techs' read this stuff....the only flaw in the .358 was the lack of support from winchester, one load and no guns. Gee, I wonder why they dropped the cartridge ? ! I use one to hunt elk here in "Orygun" in deferance to my old model 70 .338....it's a kinder, gentler, elk dropping tool. Use a 22 or 24 inch tube on it and it will balance beautifully and ballisticlly...win/win ! Blacktail53

DPhillipsI can't see Remington revamping the 700 actions for the Classic to feed rimmed cartridges. If I had my guess, I'd bet they offer the 6.5 Rem Mag.
However, looking back through all their single offerings through the years, the Classic has yet to be chambered for the 308 Win. That would seem to be the most deserving of any that are left not chambered yet.
Personally, though, I would like to see a 270 Wby or 257 Wby offered.

schromfOk, I didn't see any repeats on the list so my picks don't sound too promising. I doubt a 6.5x284 has a snowballs chance in Hell. My guess a magnum is in the works, they haven't done one in a while. Something like a rum-sum and try to convince us its a classic. I guess Jan 1 will tell.

reelmanMy vote goes for the classic .22LR. They could use the 40XR action without all the custom shop stuff to keep the costs down. I really do not like M700 as I am a M70 nut but I would buy one in .22LR.

OldsargeIt doesn't really matter. If it's a Remington rifle, it's a POS anyway (except for the estimable 7600) so whatever daydream they come up with won't be worth the powder it takes to make it go BOOM!
