So does anyone know what the difference is between a Featherweight Deluxe and a Featherweight?

They don't explain on there website.

I can't be absolutely positive but it appears that Featherweight Deluxe would have a better grade of wood for the stock.

We just got two of them in at the office -- one in .270 and one in .30-06. Both have very lovely wood indeed. Nice rifles!

I just purchased the Featherweight Deluxe Model 70 yesterday. I bought it at Wittaker Gun's in Owensboro, Ky. I got the .270 WSM chambering to go along with a New Haven Model 70 of the same that I have been shooting for two years. The wood is extra nice with red swirls galore. The wood is the reason I bought the gun. I was waiting for the All Weather Model, but they told me it might be a year and I just got sucked in by this beautiful rifle. I paid $800.00 plus tax and can't wait to mount a scope and get cracking on my new toy. If it shoots like my other WSM I will be very happy. The one I have now is in constant demand from my son and grandsons. I have let them all shoot it but when it goes in the woods it is in my hands. Now, I will have one to let them use. Good shooting.

I have a model 70 Featherweight in 270 cal. by Win. The stock looks very nice. The rifle shoots
tight groups. Can't complain.

I have the Deluxe on layaway at Cabelas. Will go pick it up on Saturday.

Tried to execute a complex xmas gift for myself. Went roughly like this...

"Honey... all I want is a new 270 Win Rifle for Christmas"

"If you contact my buddy, he will help you figure it all out"

in the meantime my buddy knew I had it on layaway and all she had to do was pick it up.

She never called... instead I got a sweater.

But I still get the gun Saturday

I am prety darned impressed with the now model 70s I have seen. The 1st year catalog , was prety sparse on different models.
But the new versions look hood on the web sight.
I was thinking a featherweight in .308 but there is a new one the name has escped my steel trap brain, but its sort of like a light weight varmint version stainless synthetic.
That might be real cool too.

I just picked it up and it was better then I remembered. Great wood, smooth action, real checkering, nice 2008 special model "filled" engraving on the magazine.

Now to scope and shoot it 'til the barrel melts

I want one of the NEW Model 70's REAL BAD!!! I own an xtr Featherweight in .308 win. It was made in 1981. It was among the first XTR made, and built under OLIN, before U.S.R.A.C. took over. It is a nice little gun, and my first rifle. You could probably move the bolt back with a feather, it is so smooth. But I want a Controlled Round Feed "pre-64" style model 70. I hear the triggers are great on these. I am torn between the New Stainless fluted barrel ones, and the super grade. It seems sacreligious to not go for the walnut and blued steel on the model 70. I want a weather warrior, but the super grade just makes me giddy. Also I want in in the grand old 30-06 Caliber. A timelss classic, and a hunting "machine" to boot.

My first day at the range and I am shooting 1" groups with regular Federal ammo. I am really liking this gun.

Mine doesn't do quite that good.....but I haven't really put it through the paces yet either.

It's functioning is meticulous!!!
