Marlin Bolt Action Centerfire
A few years ago my brother bought a Marlin bolt action .270 rifle. I have not seen another nor do I see it listed on Marlins website or in any of their information any more. Does anybody have any information on this and if they stopped making it, and why? His rifle seems to be a god shoter for a hunting rifle.

teele1,
The Marlin rifle you are referring to is the MR-7 and was chambered for the '06,270 and the 25-06. A really superb and quality firearm that for some reason Marlin never really pushed. I wish I had one in each caliber but that was not to be. If you locate one, buy it and keep it for the rest of your life, IMHO.

How many and what caliber do you want. I know of some that are new in the box at a gunstore. I can put you in touch with the owner.

Marlin also made a bolt action using Belgian FN actions and stainless steel microgroove barrels back in the 50's or early 60's- the model 455. I believe they were available only in 30-06 & 308. Some were equiped with Lyman 48 receiver sights. Not many were made.
