.300 winchester magnum
Picked up my new rifle, Ruger Stainless M77 (II), .300 win mag topped with a 3-9x42 Kahles.
I need to do the trigger yet (If anyone reading this works at Ruger, two words "Adjustable Trigger")
Looking to do work some loads for it. Being an Aussie I have access to Hodgson powders (ADI over here) and most projectiles available in the US.
I want a long range load using 165gn or thereabouts (matchking HPBT's or Nosler BT's) and another load using 220gn or similar for up close and personal on bigger critters.

Anyone care to share their loads?

Here's my 165 long range load, for what it's worth (NB. : it shoots 5 between .5 and .75 MOA in the 2 rifles I have in that cal.).

165 Sierra GK / N 160 / 73.5 (CCI 350)

NB.
1. HOT, so proceed with caution ;
2. since Vihtavuori worked so well in both rifles, I never tried another powder in .300 Win Mag ;
3. my Rem 700 Sendero sees no difference whether I use CCI 250 or WLRM primers but my Blaser R93 definitely prefers CCI's.

DownUnder - My long range load for my 300 win mag that works very well out to 1000 yds is;

200 gn Matchking HP
W/W prepped cases
70.0 gn Reloader 22
Fed 210 primer
Avg velocity from 26" barrel 2801 fps
S/D - 11
E/S - 15-20 fps

In a .300 H&H I have been shooting both the 165 Sierra SBT and the 168 Matchkings and at the longest range I have which is only 200 yards the less expensive 165 SBT is just as accurate and they are both superb.

In the .300 Win Mag I have always shot 180's but this experiance with the .300 H&H has me thinking about a change to 165's for the .300 Win also. There is less recoil for sure with the lighter bullet. The game I hunt is not all that big thus a light bullet would work.

I have excellent results with 165 grain nosler ballistic tips on long range deer and antelope.
With 80 gr of IMR 7828 I have gotten over 3200 fps and groups under 1 inch.

This is not a very popular load. I use the following:

WW brass
165 gr. ballistic tip
84 gr. H-1000
Fed. 215 primers.

These are hot loads but group very well in my Remington 700.
