Winchester WXR data ??!!
the gun shop i work at has a pile of this powder gathering dust,k it's somewhat cheap, and i can't find any data for this what so ever. being a slow burning powder i can assume its intended for magnums, i've run across a few web referances of it being used in 7mm RM and 300 WM. i'm interested in loading it for my .358 Norma Mag, and .264 Win Mag. any help will be greatly appreciated.

270 win, it's the cartridge that makes me punch infants!!!

I have and use a bunch of it. It's most similar to RL-22...maybe even the same powder. I've had excellent results with it...especially in my beloved 270 Winchesters. Smiler

If its the same as RL22 it has alot of uses. I once used it for my 300 Win Mag. Now I use it for my 338 RUM with the 185 bullet.

I load WXR in my 7STW,7Mag and 300WSM.From what I can tell by my chronograph,WXR and Reloader-22 seem to be the same.I groups really well in my rifles and when I found out it was discontinued,I bought some Reloader-22 to compare.I got the same groups and about 15fps less with this lot of Reloader-22.So I would call it the same and buy as much of the WXR as you can afford.

and the official response from hodgdon/winchester powders is.....

"we have no data listed for this powder"

so there it is, the folks that made it can't even tell me what to use it in and how much to use.

I ran across this site awhile back.It has a Winchester Powder manual that you have to download and it has WXR powder loads listed on it.

Kevin:
I just looked at my burn rate chart & here's what I came up with:

# 137 - Rldr-22
# 141 - VVN-165
# 142 - Win. WXR
# 143 - IMR-7828
# 144 - Accurate - 8700
So it's slightly slower than Rldr-22. I should think it could be used in a .270 Win. .270 WSM, and even maybe a .338.
I think I'd snap it up too if I had a chance. Good luck. Bear in Fairbanks
