Anyone have any experience with this new metric calibre?? Basically it is the 9.3x62 necked down to 338 with a 40 deg shoulder. Similar to the 338-06 imp. Apparantly RCBS makes dies for it. Any idea who might have a reamer? Considering re-chambering a 338 Fed.

I have a Ruger #1 rechambered to the rimmed version. Brass is available in both versions here but can be reformed preferably from .280 Remington, .35 Whelen or the 7x65 R for the rimmed version without trouble.

I purchased original brass but out of curiosity tried to form my own which was pretty easy.

It is said to be a very hard hitting, flat shooting, precise and efficient round which is gaining a lot of of followers here.

Basically. .338 Win Mag performance at lower recoil and with less powder and flatter shooting than the 9.3x62.

No flies on the 8.5x63. If you are in North America and don't mind shooting a wildcat, I would personally go for a .338-06 AI instead. Or better: neck up a Nosler .280 AI case to .338 and be good to go. With this option, there is no worry about fireforming brass, and you have a bit more powder capacity than either the .338-06 AI or the 8.5x63.

Either way, the three cartridges mentioned above are peas in a pod, and one will do what the other does.

I have one, and I like it. PTG can make you a reamer. If they do not have a drwaing in their files, Werner will send you one.
