I like whatever works. For me so far that has been Retumbo, H1000, Re22, IMR4831, H4831SC, and N165.

stillbeemanI use the old standby 4350. Mainly 'cause I load for several 30-06 and larger sized cartridges and keep a large quantity on hand. It got me where I wanted to go. @ 2900+fps.
I've tried a couple of other powders --I can't remember which ones-- but they didn't improve.

A subject near and dear !. H870 !!.
Long live the 7 Rem Mag !!.
Which unfortunately is no longer available to most powder enthusiast !. Slightly slower than Retumbo which is also excellent as is IMR 4831.
Funny for a guy who " Used " to worked for Hercules powder, now known as Alliant I've never used Reloader !.
Nothing wrong with it !. I found it odd that I have and use Bullseye , 2400, Unique , Blue Dot and Herco . However no Reloader series ?.

I'm surprised that Accurate 3100 hasn't even got a mention.

May be different today but in the mid to late 60s H-870 use to depoist some very difficult to remove mica like sustance. Haven't used it for 40 years.

If you still can find DP 86 that is almost perfect.

I like Reloader 25. Works well with 160 gr TSX and Accubonds.

Roger, I used to mention 3100 on forums but it seems to just be another powder that has fallen out of popularity.
Didn't Western Powders buy AA? Where I shop for powders, he won't get any powder from them as they jacked their prices substantially. His cost on 1 and 8 pound containers exceeds his selling price on Hodgdon, IMR, Winchester, Alliant, and Vihtavouri.
I was going to try some 2520 in my 30.06 with some Barnes bullets but he said he wouldn't get it.

ReloaderR22 is my favorite with IMR7828 following. Couldn't ever get near the velocity with H4831.
3050-3100 is fairly easy to obtain safely in many 7RMs with 160s and either R22 or 7828. Although many have slow bbls and will not come close to those speeds.

prof242Another vote for 7828. I chronographed a lot of loads in my two 7mmRMs. 7828 gave good accuracy with top velocity.

I like H1000 or H4831 in my 7mm Rem Mag.

kreytenChalk up another vote for Rl22--
I shoot 63 grs RL22 under 160 NAB or TSX's...very accurate.

dustofferBefore I rebarrelled my 7 Mag, a 160-gr Nosler Partition over H4831 was my go-to load. Shot under .75" for 3 shots off the bench without fail. However, I have never had any luck with any Reloader product in any caliber--and I can't explain it. It's IMR or Hodgdons for me.

meplatFor many years I have loaded IMR 7828 with 160gr Nosler Partitions using Winchester cases in two rifles having 23" and 24" barrels. Velocities are in the vicinity of 3050 - 3100fps with consistent < 1 MOA accuracy. But my loads would frighten any responsible loading manual editor and will not be repeated here.
Vhit. N560 seems to perform about the same, with a little better velocity, but with noticeably greater muzzle flash and report.
Experience with R22 & R25 in these rifles has not been favorable.
Good luck, and good shooting.

buckshotI've been very happy with a stout charge of N-160 and Nosler's 160 grain partition. My 7m/m will fling them at 3050f/s all day long.

Praise be to the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
If I were starting out today to find a load for my 7 mm Mag, I definitely would use RL-22. But, my loads were developed 20+ years ago, and I just didn't consider RL-22 back then.

rickt300I ran a similar thread a couple of years ago, took the answe as Reloder 22. Bought a canister, worked up a load under 160 grain Partitions and never looked back. Other than going back to the gunshop and buying the last canister of the same lot they had.

JOE MACKBoth my Ruger 77 and Remington 700 when I had 7mmRemMags like H4831. Accuracy was great even though velocity was almost there.

hammerdownI like RL-22 and 7828, But I will go along with what you said.
I can't recall ever trying N560 in the 7mag. I may have to go try that.
