Dr BCZ 550 FS 9.3 X 62
I'm having a 9.3 X 62 built which won't be ready 6-8 months. So I'm considering buying a factory rifle in 9.3 X 62 to shoot while I wait. Does any one have any experince with the CZ 550 FS. Is the barrel to short for a 9.3 X 62.
Thanks

SDhunterI own one in a 270 Win and it will shoot one hole groups with factory ammo.
I don't think you will be disappointed.

WalterI have one and I like it. I do not have a chronograph, but I think there is plenty of power there without worrying about a few fps! I shoot light loads just to keep the recoil down while I practice offhand. Recoil is stout with full-power loads.
BTW: "Handloader" magazine No. 243, October 2006 has some data on velocity/barrel length for 9.3 x 62. He lost 38 fps, average, between the longer barrel and the FS in CZ rifles. I normally obsess about numbers, but this is way too little to worry about.

MJinesI had my CZ550 Medium (with the full stock) in 9.3x62 at the range on Sunday. That rifle/caliber is a shooting son of a gun. At 100 yards with Sellier Bellot factory ammo I shot two separate three shot groups where all three shots in both groups were touching (and my scope only goes to 6X). Recoil is light. Rifle just looks and handles well. I have no complaints on mine, none. It has exceeded my expectations in every way.

butchloci bought a 65x55 one a couple of weeks ago. What I found was that the metalwork visable was really very well done. the hidden portions (inside the stock) wasn't buffed as well. The inletting of the action was very well done, but the barrel channel was hogged out with a ball mill, and touched the barrel on the sides, but was way undercut underneath. The metal forend cap screw was touching the barrel. End result was to glassbed the action, smooth out the barrel channel, cut off the screw a bit and put it back together. That done I shot it this weekend. group sizes were about 1.5" at 200. fit of the gun to the body was very good, and I enjoyed the set trigger. Ugliest thing on the gun are the cz scope mounts. all in all i think the CZ550FS is a rather good piece of work at a reasonable price

Dr. DucI have a 550 FS and like everthing about it except the plastic floorplate. I have a 550 Lux that has been to Africa a couple times. Great rifle.
I wanted a FS version but could not get it and got the lux instead...............I am happy with it. I swaped out my plastic follower and floor plate for a steel one with the help of an American Fellow of AR.....................cz could not send a floor plate or follower through the mail, darn dangerous those floor plates
