SnellstromI think I got a deal, new 9.3x62 barrel is on the way.
I've been watching the auctions and found a guy that had a new 20" barrel for a 9.3x62 apparently it is a Wilson air guaged, lapped, chambered and crowned and fits a Mauser 98 large ring, got it for $100 plus $7.50 to ship, I also got a temporary stock for the project a Butler Creek synthetic for $65 and $7.50 to ship that. The synthetic stock will do and get it up and shooting until I can find the right wood. I'm down to the assembly now as I have a Timney trigger and a 3 position safety for it, new bolt handle is on. Here we go!
Thanks to everyone on previous posts who have convinced me to go with the 9.3. I picked up this Mauser with a .257 barrel on it but the whole thing was un-finished and I'm already building a .257 Roberts on a small ring so I didn't need another, the 9.3 was a wise choice I'm sure.
