That rifle is ugly as sin. That would be a great piece of wood if they hadn't gone crazy with the checkering and inlays.

But really, do you think they sell a lot of those? that's just put up there to show what can be done to a gun. Personally, I think Weatherby's classic wood stocked guns are beautiful and I get way too excited over the ULW. I want an ULW in so many ways.

Weatherby's been making that rifle for a loooooong time. If it weren't popular they wouldn't be offering them...

Fruitcake is probably more dangerous as a short range weapon... Big Grin

Dr. Lou
I have owned a few Weatherby rifles and enjoyed a luke warm like for them. The only WBY cartridges that kind of interest me somewhat are the 257, 340 and 375, but they don't really do anything that the 25-06, 338 Win or 375 H&H already do and with lower recoil and cost.

To my mind the benefit of their slight increase in velocity is not proportionate to the increase in cost and recoil. What's more, the look of the WBY stocks went out of style with disco and Angel Flight pants. Lou

Love the wood on that one. I don't know why they don't offer a different stock style. A few years ago I did see a Wby without the funky stock style, it too had nice wood but no horse hoof grip, low drop/high comb or huge 45 degree tip. The store dealt with factory 2nd type stuff at discounted prices. I was interested, got the serial number and called WBY and they confirmed it was a factory issued rifle, it was gone when I went back. Maybe a Wby fan can chime in on this offereing, never saw another.

It may appear "funky" to some but it's one of the few stocks that actually work for some of us. Have monkey arms and a long neck..?? MKV stock is perfect. Remy and Win style stocks are like something on a pellet gun - a toy.
