TerryRH414 in 7X57
Does anyone have any loads for 7X57 using H-414? I have a whole bunch of it and would like to burn it up. I use mostly 139 or 140 gr bullets.

steyrsteve48 gr for my now traded away Ruger 77ST with 140 grain Sierra flat bases or 140 grain Nosler Partitions. Not 47.5 or 48.5. It only liked 48 grains and usually shot <1.0" with regularity.
I tested my Winchester Model 70 Lightweight with 140 grain Hornady boat tails beginning at 47.5 grains and went up in .5 grain increments. It tightened up at 49.5 grains and shot my remaining 5 shots into .67" at 50 grains. When I next find time to reload for it with H414, I will focus on 50 grains.
Velocity in the 22" barreled Ruger at 48 grains was 2780 fps. Velocity in the 22" barreled Winchester at 50 grains was 2930 fps. No pressure signs I could read.
Both rifles are deep throated so this is not a load recommendation. I am merely relating my experience.

WstrnhuntrThat is THE powder for your rifle! W760 is the same thing. The last load I chronographed was a 145 gn Speer @ 2860 fs with 46 gn of W-760. That is from a 24" tube. I havent had time to work up a load with a 139 grainer yet though.

tjrobertsYou are getting good advise !
H 414 gets 2900 fps and very tight groups from my ruger #1A. With 140 grain ballistic tips
Its great in the .257 Bob also !

JTPinTXI used to use about 48 to 48.5 with a 140 NBT, but this last 8lb jug I got is quite a bit hotter. I backed my loads down to 47 and things are much nicer with the new lot. Very good powder for the 7x57 though, I have shot alot of it.

jawheelerYep, H414 is the perfect powder in my 7x57. 48.5 grains is the sweet spot for me.
