CZ 550 9.3X62 twist rate
The CZ web site says that their 9.3X62 barrel has a 1:10 twist rate. I was wondering if anyone has ever confirmed that? Usual twist rate for a 9.3X62 is 1:14. The barrel on my Blase 9.3X62 has a 1:14 twist.

Dave,
I have a older CZ550FS that I imported from the states about 4 years ago and the twist is around 1:14"(measured)...
About that same time I read that CZ went to a 1:10 twist rate..
I am happy with the 1:14" as the slower twist is a little better/easier on cast bullets which I shoot exclusively..

It's been my belief that the CZ site is wrong. I can't explain it. However all the factory CZ barrels I've measured were 14" twist.

I would call CZ USA, and ask.

My 9.3 550 FS has a 1:14" twist, measured. I beleive the CZ claim of a 10" twist is in error.
The 1:14 twist seems to be sufficient for bullets up to at least 320 gr.

Guys, I sent off a note to Jason Morton at CZ and here is the response I got about the twist rate in the CZ 550 9.3X62:

"Dave,

My latest specs show 1:14" for the twist. I used the
9.3 on black bear last week and had great performance using the new
Federal 286 grain Swift A-Frame load (it should be out on the market in
the next couple of months)

Thanks for the heads up on this. I'll make sure the spec gets corrected
on the website and I apologize for the confusion.

Jason Morton"

Pretty good news on the new 286 grain Swift too!

Some pundits of the fast-twist school rejoiced in the apparent faster twist of the 9,3x62, only to find out that it was an error on CZ's website.

Finally we have a correction.

The reason I knew the twist was 14" is because I tested it on actual barrels, and that was because I was argued with by those who had it in their minds that the twist was actually 10", wich was nothing more than a belief. Even after showing them, some still believed it was 10". It bacame an issue of contention for me, so I checked every CZ 9.3x62 barrel I could, and they were all 14". I even called CZ and tole them, but still they didn't change their web site info. It didn't make sense for CZ to make that barrel in 10", because CIP specs are 14".

Anyway, it's sorted out now.
