TASK1
Sauer & Son 100 308 Win
Greetings.

Long on rifle / hunting / reloading experience. Am unreasonably fussy about rifle accuracy. Considering purchasing this rifle as a back up to my Tikka Laminated 30-06.

If you have any + or - HANDS ON experience with this particular rifle, would greatly appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks.

JP Sauer & Sons go back to the early 1900s or more, those later Mauser were IMO the finest mod 98 sporters ever made, including todays custom rifles, and they fetch $6500 and up on todays market I have a couple of them, I suspect that same quality remains, but just a guess on my part.

I just bought a Sauer 100 a few weeks ago with a beech hardwood stock. to me it is a nice looking and handling rifle. the wood is plain but I think of it as a working mans rifle. the length sucks at 14.5 inches so right now my gunsmith is cutting to make it 13.5 with a decelerator pad, had a hard rubber pad, the trigger is great no problem getting it to 2.2 pounds and is crisp. Mine is in 9.3x62. the only thing I do not care for is the short 3.335 length magazine so I can't seat bullets out very much, but 258 CEB bullets will work fine once I find the powder and load I want 2450 to 2500fps.extra mag can be bought from Euro Optics for 69.00.

I have a Sauer 100 in 270 with the synthetic stock. It seems to shoot anything you feed it. Everything about it seems to be of high quality right out of the box. As the previous poster mentioned the LOP is too long for the average shooter at 14.5 inches but that's an easy fix.

I shoot a Sauer 100 in 6.5 PRC and have been very pleased with the rifle. The action is as smooth as any of my Model 70 Winchesters and accuracy is getting there. A very good rifle to handle and carry in the field. Still searching for that sweet load with the bullet it likes. Good Shooting.
