What causes the throat to wear out faster?
I would like to know what will cause the throat to wear out faster, Is it firing a lighter bullet with faster speed or a heavier bullet thats slower but has a longer bearing surface?
Examples; 140 accubond at 3250fps or a 160 accubond at 3000fps from a 280AI, with RL-22?
Just curious.

erosion is mostly a result of firing a barrel when the barrel is hot.....the amount of powder burned and the pressures have a lot to do with how fast the barrel heats.....but the hot barrel is then subject to fast erosion.....

Of your two examples I would say that the !$) grain is going to be the most erosive due to the fact that you are likely using more powder in that load
However in the end I do believe that the amount of powder burned and the pressures as well as how hot the barrel is getting are all going to be the most significant factors

Slower burning powders are the main culprit for a shooter who does not get his barrel too hot
