What Weight Bullet For 7mm-08 With 9 1/2 Twist?
I just purchased a Winchester Featherweight in 7mm-08 with a 9 1/2 twist. What weight of bullet should I use for this rate of twist? Thanks for any help.

I have the same rifle, and have shot everything from Hornady 120 gr HP's to Speer 145 gr Hot Cor's, and all were extremely accurate.

100-175 will all work just fine, J

Most 7-08s that i have seen...including my own are at their best with a 140 grain bullet. I have seen several posts praising the 120 grainer as well. I just never saw any need to drop in bullet weight. Although that 120XBT should be one helluva deer bullet.

Jay is right, all of them will work. Maybe the 195 grain Barnes which is not made any more to my knowledge might be a little heavy for the 7/08. Just the case, not the twist rate.

Leo - I own a Savage Sierra in 7mm-08 and I use 140 grain Fail Safes for everything. My son used it last year to get his elk, worked just fine.

Hi
The 7mm-08 will shoot 'em all well.. The 9.5" twist isn't really a factor here. Decide what your needs are and choose a bullet accordingly. Work up a load and go hunt.
