I found a FN M98 made in Belgium. It is only marked FN Belgium and is of sporter variety. It has a flip up safety on the left side and is factory drilled and tapped for scope use. It has a two piece trigger, the bottom of which stays with the stock and trigger guard when the barreled action is removed from the stock. Does anyone know what kind of trigger this is and it it's any good?

Thats a action off a JC higgins m50. Its a good trigger but if the bottom metal screws get loose it could cause a problem. I still have mine on my rifle. You can put another trig in if you want

The sear for that trigger is notched with a mill cut. I have seen photos of one mof the sears that broke at the notch. If one breaks with a round in the chamber the rifle will fire.

Thanks for the response guys. I'm going to buy the rifle today. I'll replace the trigger with a Timney and do some other work on it. It's shootable as it sits, but needs some attention. For 200 bones I think it's worth it. Again, thanks.

Sorry I didn't answer the question but it is an original FN trigger.

$200 is a damn good deal, I see the actions going for $325 and up.

Do they make a trigger for the FN's or do you have to replace the cocking piece on these also? I have always replaced the cocking piece.
