I wish I knew this as well. I believe mine is going to get a custom .308 barrel at 20" and a little bit heavier. Anyone have the answer to this question? Packy

Hot Core
Place a tight fitting Patch on your cleaning rod and run it in the barrel, with the rifle laying on it's side. Put your finger tip over the end of the barrel so you get all the way to the end and stop.

Mark the cleaning rod where it is extending out of the Receiver with a Magic Marker right where it is sticking out. Pull the cleaning rod out and watch the Mark. Once the Mark "rotates" back on top, measure from the Mark to the Receiver and you will know for sure what the Twist Rate is.

Best of luck to both of you.

According to the table in the Speer Reloading Manual Number 11 the M600 has a twist rate of 1 in 10"

Remington has always twisted its .308's 1:10 except for those more recent models sold as varmint rifles - they're 1:12.

I've always liked the idea of the 600, maybe one in 243 will come up one of these days..
