D B CooperYour favorite non-magnum rimless round?
7x57 with 160 gr bullets or 8x57 with 200+ gr bullets.

KabluewyOh yea, I forgot about the 375 Ruger, although I don't have one - yet. It would qualify as non-magnum and rimless, and could turn out to be a favorite for many in Alaska.
Say, Gumboot, is the term "over kill" an oxymoron, sort of like "normal Alaskan"?

Once, I tried to shoot a squirrel in the head with a 338. It wasn't as easy as one may think. I had to shoot at the little bugger three times before I hit the limb it was sitting on, and the splinters killed it.

gumboot458One time a friend in Sitka knocked a forked horn out cold with my 500 A-Sq. and the bullet passed over its head .. the deer came to when he started to cut it,s throat ..... It was very exciteing for a while ....When he got hold of the rifle again and shot the deer again it took the bulk of its noggin off ....600 gr Barnes Originals @ 2300 fps from about 20 feet away ....He was shooting down a steep slope in the timber @ the head of Silver Bay , Thats why he shot over ....Plus an unfamilar rifle ...

Alberta Canuck3-way tie: .256 Mannlicher (not M/S), 7x65-R, and .318 WR.
If Had to pick only one, .318 WR.
If it had to be one of NA origin, "Dirty-'06".
