Your favorite non-magnum rimless round?
What in your opinion is the best all around non magnum round? One that is easily and reliably fed, has flat trajectory and still able to drop a good sized animal @ +150yds?

Thanks.

The .30-06 hasn't earned its reputation without reason. For lighter game, a 150 grain spitzer can be loaded to 3000 fps without strain and provides excellent long range capabilities. For heavier game, a 180 grain premium bullet at 2750 fps will take anything short of African thick-skinned game and Asian-type bovines.

Favourite?
There are few good ones amongst which it's not easy to say which is the better, and they are;
6.5x55 Swe, 260 Rem, 7x57Mau, 7mm-08 Rem,308 Win, 30-06 and the 9.3x62. I like them all! If I had to plump it would be ???????
getting closer, either the 7x57 or the 30-06.
Bugger, I'll go for the 7x57. Smiler

7x57,270,8x57,35Whelen,348Win,30/40Krag,30/06 and on and on. I wouldn't presume to pick the 'BEST' only one that would do the job. I don't even have a FAVORITE much less a best.

Realistically, there is nothing I hunt that couldn't be taken cleanly with my .30-06. that's why I have 8 of em.

Luckily I don't have to confine myself to it.

My 8x57's or 8x60 could fill that niche quite nicely too.

The 30-06 of course. However, my current infatuation with my new 9.3X62 caused some soul searching before posting.

30-06 if I can only have one rifle, otherwise I'd have to include my 257 Robts 3" & 338-06. oh heck, I quite like my 7x64 as well, damn I hate decisions Smiler Would have said my 303 P14 too but thats a bit rimmed, as are the 30-40 Krag & 405 that somehow snuck onto the list. Wink
