Title says it all. I have a vintage Japanese built Mark V in 270 Weatherby I bought used. It shoots real well, but I'm wondering what bullets people are using? Thanks!

My .270 WSM's like 130 gr. Northfork and Nosler Solidbase, 140 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip and Accubond, and last but not least the 160 gr. Nosler Partition. The later is my go to Elk bullet, the lighter bullets Deer sized game. Good Shooting.

Mine likes the 130 and 140 NBT and Accubond. I've settled on the 140 Accubond at 3360 as the main hunting load. Also worth mentioning is the 130 TSX and the factory spire point losd.

My rifle (Accumark) was rather picky until I bedded it including the shank of the barrel. Then all of a sudden it wants to shoot everything. I routinely shoot the 140 Accubond out to 800 now, before I had serious misgivings about buying it. Way too much horizontal stringing, but it's all good now.

Tried the 150 LR Accubond and it was truly pathetic.

140- and 150-grain TSX's are great. For extra "oomph" 160-grain Nosler Partitions also shoot well in her Deluxe Mark V rebarreled like-for-like and accurized by Hill Country Rifles, Inc.

Depends a little on what your shooting with that 270 Wby. If deer and antelope are the biggest you are going to shoot you can use just about any 277 cal bullet but remember if it is close there is going to be a lot of meat damage. for cheap bullets I had pretty good success with 150 gr Speer hot core bullets. If elk or moose or even a black bear are on the menu the 150 gr partition is pretty hard to beat. Since I've started using mono metal bullets I've found that 130 gr Barnes TTSX bullets will hold together and penetrate on just about anything. That would be my one bullet for everything in the 270 Wby.

I haven't had a lot of experience with this cartridge, but I dropped a mule deer with a 150-grain Partition and one of my biggest white tails at over 400 yards with a factory 130-grain Spitzer. Neither deer took a step- I am hoping that I get a chance to try it in some more local deer hunts this year!

I have been very happy with the accuracy and terminal performance of 140 grain Nosler Accubonds.

Weatherby chambers in general seem to love the Barnes T/TSX and my 270 Wbys are no exception. For deer and antelope embrace the 110 grain TTSX at 3700FPS. The speed does a lot to negate the low BC at hunting ranges. You will get a 1" entrance, a 2" exit and slurry in the middle with less blood shot meat on the on-side than a Partition. A 130 grain TSX will kill everything else. Enjoy!

150 partitions

Back when it was created, the 150gr bullet was the "go to', as the case had the power to drive it fast. These days with monometals, I might consider a 130 TTSX for lighter game.

140 grain Ballistic tip, mainly because they group well at 300 yards . Meat damage is extreme at close range on deer but with 12 tags in Georgia each year its a mute point. I did shoot 2 wildabeast each about 100yards shoulder shots both dead after about 40 yard dash. At longer range on deer and springbok 300-500 yards they look like normal mushrooms if recovered. I like other bullets as well but these never let me down .

The .270 WBY is an awesome caliber and has been over looked for decades...

I have observed it in the field and can testify its a killing machine on about any size animal...

The folks in the know that used it liked the Nosler partitions, the swift A frames, and some of them opted for the Hornady Interlocks and as I recall the Hornady users were shooting factory ammo, its not a super premium bullet, but its sure did work on plainsgame up to and including Eland, Wiledbeest, Zebra, and a Giraffe, that's pretty good praise IMO.

I,ve only shot game with one Wby caliber and that was the 300 Wby as I recall, and its a hammer...That said my favorite 300 is the H&H, guess Im Nostalgic, but I load it right up there.

Have had my 270 Weatherby now for 5 years. I run Nosler 150gr Partitions exclusively.
I tried Nosler 140gr Accubonds, they were good to excellent, but, supply was a problem.
I bought 500 150gr Partitions, so my supply will outlast me. I only shoot deer with this cartridge, so not too many shots a year.

Thanks! The 150g Partition has been my go to bullet for our 270 Winchesters for too long to mention. At 3150 fps or so it will only be better coming out of the 270 Bee

130 or 150 Nosler partitions or Accubonds will do any job required..The 270 Wby has been the overlooked grandchild of the shooting community, It shoot as flat as any of its competition and has the punch needed when it gets there..Great caliber.

I shoot 140 gr Nosler Accubonds out of my custom 25" barrel M-70 in .270 Weatherby. Accuracy is excellent sand terminal performance is outstanding on game up to cow elk. I haven't killed a bull with it yet but have seen bull elk killed with the .270 Weatherby and they died quickly.

My 270 WBY experiance was with a MN moose about a 125 yards slightly quartering away shot through the goods through the front knee joint and sounded like a ricochet off a rock 160 gr nosler part. dont have the rifle any more but not because of its performance Kevin.

I have a 270-300 Win Mag wildcat and it really likes the 130 grain Peregrine Plainsmasters. They are manufactured in South Africa but they have a US Internet site you can buy from.
