I have usedd .284 140 grn Accubond for several deer and countless hogs. They are very good bullets.

While the 140gr .284 Accubonds are wonderfully accurate in my M700 CDL in 280 Rem, I like the terminal performance of the 139 gr .284 Hornady Interbond better.

The Accubonds make a nasty entrance wound & detroy a lot of meat W/a small exit wound & poor blood trail. The Interbonds nushroom to over 2X diameter & do their damage once they have reached the vitals. They produce a LARGE exit wound & good blood trail.

I now use the Interbonds exclusively in my 280.

That is one of only two 139 gr Interbonds that I have ever recovered pictured in my avatar. It mushroomed to 3/4" & penetrated about 36" after hitting the scapula @ an angle @ over 3000 fps @ the impact yardage. Weight retention was 86%.

It was lodged under the hide on the opposite hind leg next to the femur.

Wouldn't a "nasty entrance wound" leave a good blood trail?

I've only used Accubonds on 7 animals. They were 160 grs from my 7 mm Rem mag that I shot 6 PG animals in South Africa and one cow elk in Montana. Didn't need a blood trail, they were all DRT.

I've only used an Accu-Bond on one whitetail doe.

It was a 140 gr. 7mm. It preformed miserably and I will not be trying them on anything else.

I've used them in 25, 6.8spc, 270win, and various 30 cals. Great bullet.

As previously posted the Interbond is also one hell of a bullet. Iam planning on a 30-06AI and 200gr Accubond for a NorthWestTerritories black bear hunt spring 2010. I do have a hankering to go with the 180gr Interbond.

Love both of em!! And cheaper than TSX!

Good choice for the Territories, but go with the 180's, a little more speed and there would be nothing gained by going to the 200's.

I used 200 grains Accubond in 8X57 on 2 mule deer. Dropped where they stood. The closest was about 75 yards, entrance hole was about the size of the bullet, exit hole was about the size of a baseball. The other deer was about 150 yards and the exit hole was still good size. Both were lung shots. To me I think its just to much bullet for deer, so now I use 150 grain Speers for deer. I havn't tried the accubonds on elk yet but I'd bet it would be Dandy.

Lets see, Accubonds, what's not to like. Aerodynamic, shoot well out of numerous calibers and rifles, are not as frangible as ballistic tips, leave good blood trails
and best of all,
they
kill
stuff
DRT

35 whelen, 225 gr. accubond

35 whelen, 225 gr. accubond

9.3 x 62, 250 gr. accubond

7mm-08, 140 gr. accubond

7 mag, 140 gr accubond

257 bob, 110 gr. accubond

375 H&H, 260 gr. accubond

7 stw, 140 gr. accubond

338 rum. 225 gr. accubond

Anyway, I think I can say that they work for me.

PS: each animal pictured above was DRT. NO Tracking. Complete penetration

Daniel,
take my word for it. I did it very carefully.
However having said that, none of my rifles are safe queens. This is a custom rifle that was smithed by a local guy of some renown that did most of his work in the 60's and 70's. I'll probably never part with it so it will definately get some nicks and scratches as it definately sees action in the deer woods.

Must be getting better with bolt as most animals seem to take two shots. One failure with accubond though the animal would not have gotten away. Bullet fired from above proably hit shoulderblade of dall sheep and made uturn and exited neck. Part of bullet went down damageing lung and heart area. Scary part was four inch exit wound out of top of neck right back at me. Range was 170 yards. Second shot was picture perfect shot just behind the shoulder. Moral is I have had way to many anomalous behaviors with bullets on animals. Really impressed with Nosler e-tips though have only shot one deer and one elk with them.

Not when the entry is high on the animal like when shooting from elevated stands.

The Accubond is a good bullet, I just think the Interbond is better.

This is what I like to see when I do recover a bullet that penetrated almost 36" after striking a shouder blade @ OVER 3000 fps.

This .284" 139gr Interbond retained 86% of it's weight & mushroomed to 3/4".

About a half dozen whitetail, 3 mule deer, and 2 antelope shot by my 7RemMag and 160 Accubonds. Performance was perfect. All one shot kills with good blood with recovery within a few yards. All pass throughs.

Come on GW, you need a few more rifles to shoot the NABs in Smiler

I have the same problem, but it does get sort of difficult to decide which to carry at times.

Have a Good One,

I use them in my 338/06 at a 180 grains. I had great results with the 180 gr. Balistic Tips on Oklahoma whitetails...but they are no longer being madeFrowner I am useing the Accubonds now, and killed a nice 8 pointer last year dead in its tracks. This Saturday our season opens up and hope to do the same this year, wouldnt hurt my feelings if there was even more points on its rack Smiler. BTW was at the range last week and shot a .575 three shot group with the Accubonds.

I shoot them in my 270WSM, 257 Roberts and 30-06. Haven't tried them in my 35 Whelen yet though.

Reloader,
I actually have several more rifles that shoot accubonds relatively well, but I figured what I posted would suffice.
