Source for Remington Actions
I remember finding a link on this site a while back to a company that buys new Remingtons and sells the barrels, stocks, and actions seperately. Can anyone point me to this site?

Thanks,
X

Try: Mike's Shooting Supply. Don't know if there are other (cheaper?) sources??

Hmmmm.

For what Mike wants, you could buy a slightly used 700 ADL, sell off the stock and barrel, and get an action for about $200 net.

You know... I think for once Orions got a point! [Big Grin]
I assumeing you are going to build a rifle. I use remington actions BUT will never build one off of a "new" remington action. IMO you are better off with one made in the 80s, and there is no short supply of them!
My observations have been that VERY few rifles in general get used much. I will cycle the bolt to slick it up on a "new" action probably 2 as much in 3 days as some of the Heaviest "used" rifles have been cycled their whole life.
I shop the news papers and gun shows. If I find one being sold at a reasonable price... I look it over sharp, and then tell them it aint worth a shit and will take it off there hands for X amount, or tell them I am not made of money and only brought X amount. Luckly as many as there are, you can walk away from quite a few. You would be surprised how many people will fold at a low price when you have cash in hand however.
I looked at the web site... I generaly dont pay that for the entire rifle, let alone the action, though sometimes I do. What does a plain jane 700 in 30-06 go for these days, store price?
You buy a used 700, drop a pac-nor on it and have them true it some, you wont go over a new one by much I dont think, and will have a better product IMO.

Smallfry has a good point, had a guy offer me his 300 Ultra for $250 last summer, Harris bipod, laminate stock and Simmons scope and Leupold rings and bases. [Big Grin] [Frown] I passed on it and ended up paying $500 for one later.... no goodies included either. Found out he sold it all for $150 later on too. [Eek!] Call five or ten guys about their rifles, look at them and one is bound to sell one for under $300 guranteed.

A million thanks to mho! I am wanting an LH 10/22 stock but up to just a few minutes ago did not know they even existed. Now if someone just made an LH action for the 10/22. I sent an email to Volquartsen about this quite a while ago; Scott V himself responded that there was quite a bit more involved in machining a lefty bolt and receiver than just reversing the drawings and that there didn't seem to be the market to justify the expense. We lefties lose again...
