7mm Weatherby Mag
I'm looking pretty hard at a early 90's Mark V delux Weatherby in 7mm Weatherby Mag.with plastic stock. I was told its Japanese made. They are asking $900.00 with Leupold II 3x9. Rifle condition is about 95%.

Anyone have experience with this rifle and shooting 160gr handloads?

I have one of the Wby Synthetic rifles in 7mm Wby. It was made in Japan. I suspect the rifles would be very similar. Mine will NOT shoot bullets heavier than 150 grs to my satisfaction ( under 2 in groups @ 200 yds). However it will shoot the 140 Barnes TSX bullets into 3/4 inch groups @ 200yds. It also groups the 139 Hornady bullets nicely and they shoot to the same point of impact. I feed the Hornadys to deer and anything bigger gets the X's.

I haven't seen that particular gun, seen others like it, I also think that the Japanese made rifles were the best of the Weatherby's.

Is this the "Fiberguard", or just the synthetic stock? I think that price is high also.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to pass because I want to use heavier bullets, and the attitude of the gun dealer turned me off!

My 7mm Rem Mag shoots the 160gr bullets at 3000fps and groups at 1" at 200 yds.
