T-mantle
just found 17 rounds of 30-06 170 gr T-mantle ammo i bought a few years back. zero'd the rifle with 3 and never shot anything with the rest. threw it in a drawer and there the 17 rounds have sat.
anyone got kills with this bullet?
i'll probably just shoot it up and keep the brass unless i should hold onto them.
can T-mantle projectiles be purchased conus if i like them?

I have some in 243 and 308. think i shot a groundhog with the 243. i am sure it killed him. i do a good job of remembering misses and bullets not doing their job.

You probably can get T-Mantel bullets from somewhere in Continental Europe, should the need arise. The question is whether it would be worth it? A T-Mantel is a pretty conventional softpoint (often with a round, exposed lead nose). They'll expand readily enough, but they are not meant for use on heavy game or at high velocity. So it really depends on what you would like to shoot with them. For my $$$, I'd rather just buy a US manufactured softnose, and be done with it.
