Hey acsteele, Yes indeed, some rifles just prefer diffenent weight bullets. Only way to know is to shoot them and see.

Nothing at all wrong with the 140gr weight. In fact, the Kid should be able to get nice "Exits" with it when placed through a shoulder. And they will also give less blood-shot meat than the lighter weights at higher speeds.

Thanks to all of your suggestions! You really helped me out. I have put together a couple of loads (140gr bullets, it dosen't care for the 120 or 130 grain bullets) Kid is doing great, shooting 1.5 groups (5 shot) The Tikka seems to do very well with the longer bullets, and isn't picky about what powder I use. I've loaded RL7, IMR3031, and H4895 so far. I am wondering if the 9.5 twist does a better job of stabilizing the heavier bullets. Anyway, thanks for all of your suggestions, we "new guys" need all the help we can get!

With bullets of 140 grains or lighter I would just work up a load that is accurate in the rifle, I wouldn't worry too much about down loading it as I have a 7mm-08 & a 243 & cannot tell much difference between them while hunting but over the bench is a little different.

So if you are going to sight it in for her & do the load development I cant see a problem.
