Nosler E-Tips???????

They've been out for quite a while. So what is the consensus, yay or nay?
I'm going to try 180s in an 8x57.

I like them, they shoot well in my 7mm mag. I would say as good as the Barnes and better then the Hornady.

On my Safari in '14 I used 150gr. E-Tips in my 7mm RMag at 3,000 fps to take the following:

Springbok
Warthog
Black Beest
Blue Beest
Red Beest
Zebra
Eland (two shots on that one...)

They regularly grouped in the .75" at 100 yards range.

Use them with confidence.

I'm not looking to argue but I am interested in your thoughts on the Hornady GMX and why you like the Barnes and Nosler better.

I have some E-Tips but have not used them on game. I have used the GMX and Barnes and have found both to be outstanding.

Well, for me it was mostly because Nosler put them on their ProShop for $14 / 50 and I bought 10 bags.

With the groups I get and performance on game I have no need to bother with anything else.

Would you mind sharing your load data for the 150 gr. E-tip in the 7mm. Rem? I have a Merkel K1 like yours, also in 7mm. Rem. So far I have had my best luck with the 175 gr. Nosler partition but would like to try the E-tips. Thanks.

I like Nosler bullets. BUT;

I tried the E-Tip in my custom 338RUM which is a very accurate round...........and they were awful. 2" when the rifle was capable of .3-4moa.

And the lack of bearing bands forced me to back the loads off compared to TSX or Lapua Naturalis.

Nosler need to do more development on this projectile.............

Hi Dale, sure thing.

I ran 72.5 gr of Ramshot Magnum to an OAL of 3.235" with a Rem Mag Primer.

Looking back on my notes that load actually grouped several groups in the 1" at 200 yard range. My K1 wears a Leupold FX3, 6x42 with the LRD reticle. Sighted at 200 the dots are right on to 500 yards. At 6.5# with a round in the chamber it's a real dream to carry.

She's a bit bitchy on the recoil end of things though.

Thanks for the load information. I know what you mean about the recoil. I just fire a few rounds with my 9 pound .416 Rem. and the Merkel seems quite pleasant.

Glad to hear some good results from the GMX. I did quite a bit of research on monos for the 7mm, cant remember where I read it but I thought the gmx had the highest FIV over 2000fps apposed to 1800fps for the E-tip.
