Bailey Bradshaw7x57R...it's a killer!
I've been doing my part in knocking down the hog population out here in East Texas ( yeah right...kill one...three pop up)
Killed five so far with the single shot I built, and all 5 have not just dropped, but been knocked down and stayed where they lay.
I've shot too many hogs to count in the past with .270, and while I am no knocking the .270, I can sure tell it's forte is for longer range shots vs. the 7X57r. The .270 blows through them, and many would attempt to run if hit without breaking a shoulder. I like to see them knocked over, and so far thats what I get with the rimmed mauser ( NORMA 156 gr oryx load).
If your on the fence about the 7mm mauser....don't hesitate..it's reputaion is obviously well earned.

Husqvarna M98If you reload, you should try the 175 grains Hornady IB bullet,
it´s looooooong and sleek and slays them like there is no tomorow.
Best regards Chris

oldunGreat stuff Baily, I too have found the 7x57R to be a good cartridge, with Nosler 150 gr Partitions or Hornady 175 gr RN it kills well, bang flop.

yumastepside..........same here! I have a 7x57R in a BRNO 12GA. combination and a lee enfield converted to 7x57R.........absolutely brilliant with the Norma factory loads.........the Lee Enfield is short and deadly.

Gidday,
A Mate of mine has just aquired a BRNO like yours, what load are you using in the 7x57R?
Thanks.

Bailey BradshawI didn't have good luck with the S&B loads, or the Privi partisan ( they must be the same, brass looks the same, same bullets and they acted identical).
I would get fliers about 1 out of 5 shots. Normas have not done that at all.

yumastepside........same thing ! S&B are very ordinary, they seem to be underpowered. My Norma's were actually handloads from the start, I did use a box of Norma factory's once and they were a lot more powerful than the S&B's
