My "semi-custom" Remington Sendero

Eland SlayerMy "semi-custom" Remington Sendero
Let me start out by saying....I absolutely LOVE well-figured wood on a gun. However for an "all-around, rain or shine, do everything, go-to rifle" I prefer synthetic for consistency and general durability. But who says a synthetic stock has to look like a piece of black tupperware?
I just completed my new "semi-custom" Remington 700 Sendero SF II chambered in .300 Win Mag.
I sent the bolt to Kampfeld Custom in Michigan to be spiral fluted (filled w/ black) and have one of his custom bolt knobs installed. This is the first aftermarket bolt knob I have ever had on a gun and I cannot believe how much difference it makes in cycling the action. It is so much easier...especially with a somewhat large scope.
I also had a custom paint job done on the factory stock (which is made by H.S. Precision) by MG Arms in Houston. The paint is a textured epoxy.
The scope is a Leupold VX-R 4-12x50mm (30mm tube) and I have tuned the trigger down to a crisp 2.25 lbs. This rifle has proven to be very accurate with 180 gr. Barnes Vor-TX TTSX factory ammunition (easily sub MOA).
Here are a few photos....what do you guys think?

scottfromdallasI think it's bad ass.
13 July 2013, 03:56
scottfromdallasI have also found myself going synthetic lately. I used to just love wood but I'm in an experimental stage.

pagosawingnutLeave it up against a tree and you might lose it! Nice.
I also have gone to synthetic stocks because I can order them in my length of pull.
That'll do some long-range damage. The camo is unmistakeably Kerry O'Day!

I do not currently reload....so no. The 180 grain TTSX seems to shoot extremely well.

That's a helluva rifle, you done good.

Did you stay with the Remington extractor or an M-16 type?

packrattusnongratusA most gorgeous stock and gun. I like that you didn't change much that would cause it to shoot differently. I use a H&S Precision on a M600. I have a stock that fits the .308 and the soon to be rebarreled 243 (to 358 Win.).

DWrightVery nice looking rifle.
You've inspired me!
I have been thinking about what my next build will be. Hope you don't mind if I copy the paint job.

Nice rifle but
At 12.5 pounds not my idea of the weight of a all around do everything rifle.
My Rem 700 300WM comes in at 9lbs is Sub MOA I think it to heavy to be a rounder.
But then Wade is most likely much younger and has a much stronger back then mine.

Well....I can lose the shell holder and bi-pod in a matter of seconds, and that shaves off about a pound and a half.
But in any case, I do hunt in Texas, where most of my hunting is done by one of the following:
- blind hunting
- spot & stalk
- walking on either flat or gently rolling terrain
I don't really do any strenuous mountain type hunting, and if/when that day comes I will likely use a lighter rifle.

dogcatWorst case of rifle abuse I have ever seen. I urge you to sell this ASAP.....
To me. PM if you are in a 12 step program to recover from inflicting this type of abuse on poor inanimate objects...

Great choice! Couldn't think of a better use for a 243.
