Any Weatherby experts out there?
I have this model in a 270 Win. It has a high gloss barreled action in a highgloss finished stock (looks like claro). I have a few books but could not find a rifle from weatherby with this description. Can anyone tell me is this is a standard model or a custom shop offering?

This might possibly be the Vanguard which was similar to the MKIV but not as fancy.

I think what you have is now known as the Mark V Deluxe. I'm assuming what you have is a Mark V. How many lugs does the bolt have?

It's a mark V action but does not have the contrasting forarm tip like the deluxe.....but everything else about it looks like a deluxe.

Hi lofter, I think then the rifle you have is still in the catalog as Mark V Sporter. Their description pretty much matches yours, although apparently Weatherby switched from a high gloss finish to a matte lacquer finish since they made yours.

The book I have lists the gun as low lustre blue and my book is 8 yrs old and I don't believe that my rifle is older than that.

I was refering to the wood finish in my last post. Nevertheless, I believe the last example I posted is your rifle, the cosmetic differences being minor spec changes over the years.
