WesternmassmanSako Finnlight BBl Length?
Looked at a used Finnlight in .270. Just wondering what the effect of 21" bbl has made to anyone's handloads? Especially in comparison to a 24" tube? Would an 06' be a more efficient caliber in this bbl length?
What about the accuracy claims? Thanks
A short case is more efficient in a short barrel such as a 308, 260 or 243. Your burning less powder than the longer cases. Accuracy will depend on you taking the time to find that "special load".

martinbnsI used to load a 270 for my son with a 20 inch barrel and I lost about 125 fps form the manual estimates. A nonissue inthe real world.

djpaintlesThis is a 300 yard group from my 270 Finnlite, velocities with the 130gr TSX and 61.0grs of RL-22 are listed on the left:
In a 24" barrel this load will do about 3150 or so...................DJ

WesternmassmanThanks for the info. I will check it out a little further. I'm comparing a Finnlite in .270 to a Weatherby UL in .280. Both nice rifles.

iwzbeemanGo with the .280. You'll be glad you did.

djpaintlesI had a Weatherby UL. I now have 2 Finnlites. IMO the Finnlites are a far superior rifle to the Weatherby. I'm not saying that the Weatherby is a bad rifle but the Finnlites IMHO are one of the finest all around hunting rifles you will find..................DJ

Don't try it with a 243! You lose about 50fps per inch which makes a 19-20" 243 a bit slow with handloads and marginal with factory loads (read around 2,600fps for most factory 100gr)
