boilerroomAnyone actually loading for the 9.3x66 Sako yet?
I would like a little load data to work with. Should have my Sako 75 in this chambering next week.
I'd like to start with some 286 gr bullets but I do have a couple boxes of 250 Btips included and will take a load with these on my black bear hunt begining next month if I hit some worthy accuracy/velocity.

boilerroomI picked it up used on CGN with only 20 shots through it.. A damn nice package with a 1x4 VX II, Opti Locs, 60 brass, dies and 2 boxes of bullets.

lawndartHey Boilerroom,
Is it a model 75 with a detachable box magazine, or does it have a hinged floorplate?
Can you measure the length of the magazine. This ammo is loaded differently if you can load it to an OAL of 87mm, or if you have to hold it to 85mm.
Thanks,
LD

I never asked and it's in transport now.
I don't see a floor plate or DM in this pic.

Thats a Sako 75 with a detachable mag (recessed so its not visible from that angle in the photo)and that rifle also has the keylock concept in the bolt. The mag should take 5 down.
By the way if you do not like the key concept, you can buy a new shroud for the bolt and you also need a new firing pin (from Beretta). Probably expensive though.

boilerroomI finally got a break in the weather while I had some time to myself. I took the rifle out to try 2 powder combo's. Heres my results...
250 gr Nosler Btip
Sako brass
Fed 210 primers
H414, 67.0 gr. (Nosler max for the 9.3x62)
1.25"@100, 2500 fps
RL 15, 60.5 gr. ( worked up to this from Steves Pages max(58.5) for 9.3x62)
1"@100, 2500 fpsI'll work the loads up a bit to see what happens. The scope is dialed in for my black bear hunt this weekend at least.
I picked up a box of 286 gr. Partitions today.
I'll post all my results. There is not a lot posted yet on this round.
So far I think my rifle is a shooter. I was only using a 4x scope and there was plenty of mirage today.

boilerroomI bumped the H414 load up from 67.0 gr to 69.0 gr. Got great accuracy results but it was too dim out for my chrony to read.
I'll take that load out this weekend for black bears. I assume it is somewhere inbetween 2500 and 2600 fps.
I forgot to bring targets so I had to tape up a couple of my old ones in the garbage can.

I had poor results with H 4895 btw.

friarmeierBoiler...
That looks great! And that heavy partition's gotta pack a whallop...
Looks like you've got a great gun there.
Enjoy!
