Bill/OregonAnyone here shoot a Verney-Carron O/U rifle?
Ken at Kebco has these French doubles in 9,3X74 at an attractive price. I'd love to hear from someone who actually has used one regarding handling, accuracy, reliability, regulation, etc.

Bill/OregonWhile searching in the DR forum, I find I asked a similar question a couple of years back.
Perhaps a better question is how the V-C compares to the Valmet.

SchauckisDon't shoot one, but have shot one.
I came across not one but two rather attractive ones and got to shoot one of them.
Can't fault the build quality and on basis of what I've learned about the V-C guns they're accurate. Also there is a barrel adjustment system so the gun can be regulated for the load you wish.
The gun did not fit me the least bit and kicked me nastily on the cheek. Now, before buying: shoot one! It may fit you, but as fitment of a double is critical, I rejected the gun on this basis. (Or else I would have paid a lot to a stockmaker to make it fit!)
Function was good, and the safety next to the trigger guard worked OK but not in the cold and your fingers are numb or covered with a glove.
Plus sides were the high build quality, standard quick mounts for scope/red dot sight, and quick and adjustable open sights.
The gun was well balanced, too.
Trigger action was quite crisp.
It opened smoothly and was easy to close and felt tight when closed.
My friend's Beretta O/U 9,3x74R was better to shoot in my opinion, as its stock fit me better and it was scoped making it heavier.
The V-C felt much sturdier, partly because the Beretta is a
very slim gun. The V-C certainly is not bulky!
I seem to recollect the gun was fitted with extractors rather than ejectors but the importer verified ejectors can be retrofitted.
Hope this helps!

Bill/OregonThanks Lars. Just out of curiosity, how tall are you? I am 5 feet 10 inches and about 165 pounds.

Bill/OregonLars: Well maybe I would be better off with a Suomi-built Valmet eh?

Schauckis
LOL!
Thanks, Bill!
Seriously: I haven't ever shot a Valmet with rifle barrels.
It's quite a heavy gun so recoil should be mild.
Also you can adjust the stock by using inserts between the recoils pad and the stock. You'd probably have hell's own time finding them, but I'm fairly sure the new Tikkka/Finnclassic inserts are identical.
