XCaddisBOSS Sweet Spots for 300 Win Mag with failsafes
Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone has comments on what they found the sweetspot is on a Browning Abolt 300 Win. Mag. using 180 grain Winchester Fail Safes. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Cheers,
XCaddis

TXPOMy sweet spot for both 180 Partitions & Ballistic Tips is 0.7 and I get consistant 1/2" groups and have shot quite a few that were half that size. Try playing with it around that setting.

<Savage 99>There is no suggested sweet spot for 180 gr Winchester ammo in the A bolt on the insert that came with my Boss stuff but the phone # for more data is 800-333-3288.
My 300 WM M 70 is going to the range today with a different "sweet spot". The Boss thingy is in a plastic bag now in the shooting box and I have a series of loads to try. That takes a quarter pound and three inches off of the rifle!
I am looking for a tap to make a cover for the threads and lettering on the barrel.

<Savage 99>At the range today the M 70 was shot without the boss. Some loads shot very well and others were 2 MOA.
With the 125 Sierra at about 3500 fps it shot 3/4" at 100 yds and the 150 gr Remington Corelokts were just about as good. The Hornady SST's and Nosler BT's did not do as well.
They say I can dial a load in with the Boss and we know we can find a load as long as the barrel and bedding are decent. So far I proved that it shoots two loads without the Boss and it's handier and weighs less.
It's too bad that they cut the barrel to 23.75" to fit this device on. All in all this gun is a lot of fun playing with it.
