Has anyone seen or own a bolt action in 9.3x74r? I have a predilection for rimmed cases in bolt actions, other than the usual collection of 303 Enfields ,I have a P14 in 9.3x74r, a No I Mk III in 7x57r and I am currently re-barrelling a Siamese Mauser in 405 Grenadier ( reamer thanks to an obvious forum member )
Having just read an article about a Rigby Mauser in 9.3x74r on one of the African hunting forums I was curious about any other bolt action versions ??

Rigby made Mauser action rifles for its .400/.350 cartridge prior to World War I. The cartridge is rimmed and the action used was the first Magnum length action Mauser had built. It had a slanted magazine box to accommodate the rims.

The 9.3X74R greatly resembles the .400/.350. In fact, .400/.350 brass can be made from 9.3X74R cases. However, the actions are quite rare and greatly prized by Mauser enthusiasts (including me). Many of the original Rigby rifles were rebored and rechambered to .375 H&H Magnum by Rigby, when that cartridge appeared on the scene.

A Westley Richards Ovundo over and under drop lock double rifle in caliber 9.3X74R was fairly recently advertised on eGun, the German gun auction site. The rifle had originally been one of a pair in caliber .400/.350 Rigby, which had been made for an Indian maharajah. I owned the other half of the pair briefly. I let it go because I could think of no way to mount a scope on it without destroying the value. I had never had any experience with claw mounts at that time.

A friend has a Griffin & Howe bolt rifle in 9.3x74R.

It is a G&H-built rifle. I asked him for the action type and rifle build number.

Ah, turns out it's a Rigby, with a special slanted box magazine to accommodate the rim of the 9.3x74R.

I also have an LSA No I in 375x2 1/2 flanged NE, which is why I built my 9.3 on a P14 action, reasoning that as I could make 375 cases from the x74r brass ( basically an elongated 303 ) the 9.3x74r should feed from the P14 action as the case is a similar size to the original chambering

Yes, the Rigby boxes are similar to the Siamese to look at.
