The lawn mower mechanic (aka gunsmith) is fulla shit.

This is classic "large sports store" gunsmith crap. I find it difficult to impress upon people how much variability exists in gunsmith quality. I've run into some smiths who were stunningly incompetant. I simply do not know how they stay in business.

As for the old "professionally clean and inspected" sign on the used gun rack. That is also a load of crap - I can't tell you how many times I've had sales people tell me they test fire all their guns. Yet, one look down the barrel says it was fired about 30 years ago, if that recently.

As for your problem, you most likely have a weak ejector spring or there is some brass and/or some other obstruction preventing the plunger from pushing forward on the ejection cycle.

Finally, 700s are NOT suppose to work like that - I can't believe they actually had the nerve to say that! A properly functioning 700 will extract and eject reliably for thousands and thousands of rounds.

Thank you so much!! I knew that had to be wrong but when 4 other people all agree and no one is on your side it will give you pause. I once had a co-worker run into my office asking for verification on the number of states. All dozen or so people in shipping told him there where only 48, he was the only one in the room who thought there was 50! I guess I know how he felt now.
