Anyone using 62 gr TSX's in a .22-250?
Dear all

Just wondering if anyone is using the 62 gr TSX's in a .22-250 with success? When I say success I would like to know if anyone is finding them to be accurate in a standard twist barrel? I am shooting a Sako 75 which has a 1 in 14 twist so was hoping someone might be using them with success and would also be willing to share any pet loads?

Many thanks

The 62's will not stabilize in a 1:12,14 twist. Use the 53's. I have used the 53's in a 22-250 with great success on hogs and whitetail.

I would be tempted to buy a box and try them with a 1 in 12" barrel in a 22-250 if you pushed them very hard they just might stablize. I'm not saying they would work for sure, but it wouldn't cost that much to find out and you can get away with a slower twist at 22-250 velocities. Probably out of the question with a 1 in 14" barrel. I'm having a .223 built and plan on using those bullets. I spec'ed a 1 in 9". Of coarse you need a faster twist when you push'em slower.

Thanks folks

Perry I had looked at the 53's and these would be perfctly adequate for what I have in mind (Roe deer) and TC1 I suppose I could try a box but as the 53's would do the jo I might play safer and go with those.

Thanks for the replies

Jon2,

I should have been more clear. I tried the 62's in a 1:12 and they would not stabilize...at all. One shot hit the target stands upright about 30" from bull. The TSX in a 62 is longer than most 69gr match bullets. 1:9 is the minimum twist. The 53's have worked very nicely on medium sized game, I think you will like them.

Do you think he might pull it off if he went with a 60gr lead core bullet like a partition instead of the TSX?

Nosler's 60gr Partition shoots very well in my 1:14 22-250 BUT the 53gr TSX out performs it when it comes to lethality and penetration.

Hi Jon
Have tried the 53g xlc on roe out of a sako 22/250. Killed rapidly, good penetration and minimal meat damage. If I were to stalk roe again with the 22/250 these would be the bullets I would choose.
Good hunting

I have has such good luck over the last 30 years with the 60 gr. Hornady HP and SP, that I have never felt the need to use any other bullet. they work well in the 222, 223 and 22-250 strangely enough..
