I believe there were some Classics made prior to 1981, in various chamberings, before Remington made the Classic a one chambering per year, limited edition model. Of course, I stand to be corrected.

I bought one way back but don't remember the year it is in 243 cal. I think then there were 5 calibers to choose from may be wrong to it's been a long time.

Classics were made 78-85 in 22-250, 243, 6mm, 30-06 and 7mm Mag. In 81, they started the one year only chambering.

I have a 375 H + H classic in a light barrel (featherweight) configuration made in 1982. So, i believe that are other "non-catalogued" chamberings also. I got a factory letter with it to verify everything.

Thanks for the replies, my local gunshop has one in stock and i am trying to work out the age of the rifle this helps me place it back in the ealry 1980s, which is a bit older than i thought, cheers Dave

I'd like to have one each of the '92; '94; '96; & '98.
That'd cover just about everything... Cool

1983 is the year I would love to own. It would save me building one on this Herters/Parker-Hale 1200M action I picked up...but I gotta do waht I gotta do. Besides, I can have mine with express sights on a quarter-rib. I'm getting pretty good at making these for a flat top barrel.
