I was wondering if anyone has any of these rifles if so whats your likes and dislikes? also what caliber do you have?

A friend of mine had one in .300 WM that was about as accurate as a bad Ruger...

....you mean with a LW barrel?

Guy I hunted with in Utah had one..... I wasn't impressed!

Let's see a pencil thin barrel surrounded by fiberglass. Sure bet it cools off quickly. I've never owned or shot one. But a guy brought one to the lease a couple years ago. It sure was a high $$ rifle for only giving 1.5-2" groups.

i have 2 of their full custom guns.257 weatherby and a 375 rum both guns will consistantly shoot 1/2 inch groups. I took the 375 rum to tanzania and shot buffalo and plains game instant death used 270 tsx and gs FN solids. I have shot numerous whitetail and hogs with the 257 with 100 grain tsx 3600 fps and just kills deer in their tracks. The only thing i do not like is the grip is small for my hands and it really is not comfortable. I do not know about a regular rifle with their barrel as I have not shot one but the 2 I have are full customs and they are as accurate as my HS precision, Ed Brown,Mcwhorter rifles but they look kind of strange.I prefer the others as the grip is much better for me.

I know of one that was in a gunshop that had a bulge in the barrel from when the factory test fired it and it wasn't picked up.

Not sure what caused it.

Haven't seen many around.

I was looking at one then saw the Magnum Research Moutain Eagle Rifles and I went with them insted ... little cheaper price wise and shoots .55" groups at 100 yards and 1.3" at 200 2.2" at 300 yards have not shot past that with it. Rem action and HS stock 26" barrle and 308 Winchester... LOVES the 165gr Accubond.....

The Carbon Custom model uses a match grade barrel...Shilen, I believe. The other (less expensive) models just use regular barrels lathed down thin and then wrapped. Why go to all the trouble with an "average" barrel.

I had a Kimber Montana rebarreled to a 257 wby and have been very satisfied with the way it shoots. I'm now having them rebarrel a short action varmit rifle to 260 rem. I find the carbon wrapped barrels intersting and all that implies. shayne

A friend of mine has one in 280. I'd assume he likes it as he takes it hunting all the time. He's shot quite a few sheep and ibex with it too.

It is hard to shoot off hand.

I've got 3 carbon wrapped Blaser R93 barrels.

They started off as VERY good shooting barrels and remained so after the carbon wrapping. The calibers are 6.5x284, 300 mag and 9.3x64.

I also have the carbon stock from Christensen for the R93. It makes a nice package. Not really that much lighter, but enough so adding a short bipod to the rifle for prone shooting (if I choose to, but really don't use it very much that way) makes it about what my standard R93 weighs without the bipod.

Just gave myself a few more options in the set up I use for hunting.

Mike, do they wrap it to the thickness of a Safari barrel?

They have 2 grades. One is where they turn down the factory barrel and wrap it - the factory Winchesters were done this way. The other's are where they take a Shilen Match grade barrel for starters and wrap them.

The wrapped match barrels make VERY accurate rifles. 1/2" or better 3 shot groups should be expected - all the one's I've shot were Ultra-Mags.

I loaded the ammo for one of my buddy's hunts, he ended up doing Ok with the Christiansen 7 RUM:




His wife used a Christiansen 338 RUM (braked) to take an Elk at 275 yds. She put 2 shots 1 1/2" apart from a field rest into the Elk - obviously the 2nd wasn't needed.

I've got to think that anyone not getting good accuracy from a Christiansen rifle must not be using the Match wrapped barrels. The ones I've seen and shot were deadly accurate hunting rifles............................DJ

I've had 3. The first was a full custom on a m70 action that Christensen did up in 7mmwsm. It had a krieger barrel and wouldn't shoot and the cases had a bulge on one side after firing. So they replaced it saying they wanted to use a Shilen barrel. Ok this one would't shoot and I found a hump caused from extreme chatter while chambering in the throat. Probably used the same crap reamer that they ruined the Krieger on. Next I had my gunsmith Chamber a Rock barrel in 300 WSM in a FN SPR action which he trued and sent it to them to stock and Wrap the barrel. I wanted to get something for my $. This one shoots at .5" with pet loads sometimes better. Moral of story Don't let them true or chamber you action or barrel!!! They did work with me and paid for the SPR action that was trued. I got a McMilian stock and a decent rifle it just took a long time.

It is my understanding their rifles are very popular with the big time mountain hunters. I was told by two guys that have more sheep, goats and other mountain critters that the best lightweight is by Bansner, then Match Grade Arms then the fiber wrapped barrels. They loved the Ed Brown Damaras but unfortunately Brown no longer makes rifles.

After wrapping they are the same diameter as the chamber area of the barrel.

Slightly larger than the diameter of a safari barrel. Probably would require opening up a safari contour stock to have one fit on a factory stock.
