SAKO75SAKO, the old vs. the 75, which do you prefer/why?
I have both a SAKO AV Fiberclass and a Sako 75.
Obviously there are some differences. I was wondering what the consensus was among those here? Which do you like better and why?

JohnTI now own the whole range of the old Sakos from L461 to L579 to a L691 size (or A1, 2 & 5). For me the main reason is that I don't like the detachable magazine. Although having said that it is probably the finest detachable magazine there is.
Other than that, I buy up the old ones cause they don't make them anymore. I can always buy the 75's later.
I don't own a 75 but my friend does in .300Win. Accuracy, smoothness of operation, you just can't fault them. But I still prefer the old ones! Just me, nostalgic I guess.
Regards
JohnT
(PS In the smaller sizes the old actions were "fully scaled" ie. in diameter as well as length - nowadays only scaled by length - cost cutting)

JordanI've owned a dozen or more small Sakos over the years. I love 'em. I've only owned one 75. The function of the 3-lug 75 action is definitely superior to the two lug L46, 461, etc. The 75 is also a bit more robust. If I was after pure function and reliability, I would own a 75 first. If I wanted nostalgia and classy lines, get an old Sako.
