REM 700 338 RUM value
This old man wants a 338 RUM to keep my other safe queens happy. I buy guns because I like them and to have some stuff to leave to my boys.

I don't need another target rifle as I have three fine ones already. I do wish to get my $$$ worth and buy guns that I can resell on occasion without a great loss.

QUESTION:

Yesterday on an on-line auction site I stopped bidding on a Sendero in 338 Ultra with no rings or scope because the bidding went over $1500. I suppose the rarity of a Sendero in the 338 Ultra was the cause of the bidding going so high.

So today I bought on-line a like new stainless Rem 700 LSS with a variable silver Leupold scope--all like new--for $789.

I've made lots of mistakes in my 72 years. Did I make another one by not shelling out the extra 700+ dollars for the Sendero??

Bill, you did not make a mistake in my opinion.

Remington makes good and accurate rifles, but I don't think any standard factory Remington is worth $1,500.

If you want you can put the $700 into your LSS if need be and have a custom that will sell just as well. Those LSS rifles typically shoot pretty well and if you re-sell it in Sept. you will make money.
