Re: .300 win mag ammo for deer?
Don't overlook the standard 180 grain loads from Remington and Winchester, the corelokt and the power point. I reload 180 and 200 grain Speer spitzers in my 300 Win mag but before I did everything I hit well with the aforementioned factory loads (deer, elk and antelope)went down quickly. These standard loads have been doing this duty for a long time, just because there are newer loads out there doesn't mean they are necessarily better.

I put a Sims recoil pad and moved the scope foward and headed back to the range. I getting a 3 shot group @ 100 yrds. you can cover with a quarter, and no contact with the scope. Man, you talk about a happy camper!!!!
The Sims recoil pad works like a dream!
I thought I had made a mistake getting the .300 Win Mag. But after a few minor adjustments(Sim's recoil pad and moving the scope forward) I have a rifle I am so pleased with I can't wait for our hunting season to get here!
