SHR 970 Availability??
Dear All,

I'm looking for a Sigarms SHR 970 rifle with a synthetic stock - new or almost new condition. Has anybody got an idea where I might pick up one of these in the US (Internet preferred, but I guess phone is OK as well)?? Caliber must be larger than or equal to .270 Win, magnums not so interesting.

There are a couple on Gunsamerica.com and Gunbroker.com - all in .270 Win. It would be nice if I had a bit more selection in chamberings.

What is a good price for these rifles these days?? I see them between 4-500$ lightly used.

Thanks a lot in advance

- mike

Mike,

Pick one up in 270 Winchester caliber, and then buy an extra barrel in 30-06 (as you know, this particular rifle allows you to switch barrels).

I see the barrels for sale periodically on Ebay, which is where I got an extra one myself.

That is a good idea. I also see new barrels sold by Numrich, but only in .270 and .300 Win Mag.

Thanks for the tip about occasional barrel availability, a .270 Win and a .30-06 barrel would be the perfect way to complete this system!

Btw, there is currently an auction on eBay:

2 Piece Bases

Burris Item # 410213
Gloss Black Finish
Universal Dovetail

These mounts are for a.
Browning Lever BLR Lightning
Sig Arms SHR 970 or STR

These look like standard Redfield type bases (dovetail front, vindage adjustable back). It seems Leupold also makes a standard base for the SHR 970. But does the above mean, that all bases for a Browning BLR Lightning will fit the SHR 970???

I looked last night, and it is not overwhelming what is listed as bases available. I'd like to locate a pair of Steel Weaver bases, if possible...
