gasgunner.30 TC
Just noticed on the TC web site that the new icon rifle is available in the new .30 TC. Anyone know what that is? I didn't even know we needed another .30 cal cartridge.

6.5BRA 308 ballistic twin, looks like a 300 savage improved to me! Redundant? Yes.

mmaggiIt's a shorter .308. Nothing more, nothing less.

sbhooperJust what a guy needs-another gun that is hard to find cases for!! The rifle looks like it will have some potential, but I'll bet it will be pricey, though.

30378Actually this will almost be triple redundancy with the 308, the 30TC and the new ctg Marlin/Hornady is coming out with for lever rifles.

leemar28In the March issue of Guns and Ammo.......Craig Boddington states "With 150 grain bullets it actualy exceeds standard velocity for the 30-06"
Smaller capacity less powder more speed.
Wonder how they can do that !!!!!! lol
Hang on TITE !!

onefunzr2What is "standard velocity" for the 150gr '06? I didn't know there was such a thing.
03 February 2007, 07:19
leemar28Well thats a good question........I assume ( and I hate to do that ) He refers to factory loaded ammo. Boddington again states "extra fast loads,Federal High Energy, Hornady light mag," beat it........I belive that factory 150 30-06 loads are advertised around the 3000 fps mark. The "Extra fast loads are advertised around 3100 fps. I never have clocked any of them. Always was a 180 grain man myself. Wonder what you have to do to get on T.C.,S&W pay roll....Just right what we pay you to I guess.

leemar28The rim , and case head is .473, and has minimum
taper. Boddington says its a shortend .308 win .
Looks like a reinvented 300 savage. Kind of funny. The artical he wrote dosent quote any velocity. He just states that its faster than an 06......................

djpaintlesA round that requires high-energy powders that aren't available to reloaders just to match the performace of other highly popular rounds already available sounds like a formula for quick failure. I can't imagine what they were thinking in producing this round...................DJ

Idaho SharpshooterLooks like an 1/8" shorter 308 that used magic powder to equal its performance...only to factory ammo shooters. Stooopit!
