landkiller257 Weatherby
I have just worked up a load for my 257 Weatherby and 100gr. TSX Barnes bullets that is very accurate. I am new to this round and I am thinking about using it on mule deer next season. Tips, experiences, or advice please. Thanks

jorgelandkiller, I have a lot of trigger time with the 257 Weatherby although mostly with the "lowly" 100gr Hornady. It's the most impressive deer killer I've ever used. Something on the order of forty plus one shot DRT kills on deer & hogs. I've switched to the 100gr TSX with equally good results. Never taken mule deer though, but I'll wager it will be jus about perfect. jorge

30378Perfect combination for mulies. Mine shoots the TSX well but likes the 110 Accubond better.

Do you have velocity numbers?
With my 257 Roberts and a 100gr @ 2900-3000, the mule deer (antelope/sheep) expire very rapidly

With anything "close" to factory ballistics, you will be fine, however, the mule deer will not!

Red C.I've been using the lowly Sierra GameKing 100gr and am extremely happy with them. The accuracy is outstanding. On a still day last week I had one three shot group of 3.5" at 339 yds (according to my rangefinder). That's as good as I can shoot. The rifle may be better than that. I just can't believe the ballistics of this rifle. I guess you can tell I love my .257

RJMNow that Remington has come out with a stainless/fluted/synthetic with a 26" barrel it is on my "wish" list...

jstevensThe best of the Weatherby rounds IMO. It's like shooting a .220 Swift with double the bullet weight, flat shooting and flattens whitetails. Mine goes 3670 fps with 100 TSX and RL22 and shoots cloverleafs at 100.
